Grants for Apprentices Registered in Red Seal Trades
Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG)
The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG) is a taxable cash grant of $1,000 per year, up to a maximum of $2,000 per person. The AIG is available to apprentices registered with ITA in one of the Red Seal trades.

Once you have met the requirements for level 1 or 2, ITA will issue you a Confirmation of Progression Letter. Using this letter, apprentices can apply online to Service Canada. Download this letter from your Direct Access inbox. Log in here

You are eligible for the AIG if you have successfully challenged a level exam in a red seal trade and met the hours requirement.

Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG)
The Apprentice Completion Grant (ACG) is a $2,000 taxable cash grant available after you have been certified in your red seal trade.
To apply for your ACG you need:
- Copies of your certificates
- Letter of completion
