Supervision and

Sign Off Authority

An experienced tradesperson who is planning to supervise an apprentice can apply for Supervision and Sign Off Authority if they are not certified in their respective trade.

Who is eligible for supervision and sign off authority?

If you’re a tradesperson who has not been certified, but you have extensive experience in your trade, you may be eligible for Supervision and Sign Off Authority. We recommend you apply when you first register your apprentice via the SkilledTradesBC Portal

How to Apply

You do not have to write an exam, but you do need to document your work experience in your trade. If you are approved, you’ll be authorized to supervise apprentice training on the job. However, it does not mean that you are certified in your trade.
