Meet Your Advisor: Isabel McLean

Isabel McLean is one of our new Apprenticeship Advisors. She says pick a trade that you enjoy and want to become better in.

Apprenticeship Advisors provide regional support to apprentices and employer sponsors. They help build knowledge and awareness of the B.C. apprenticeship system and provide guidance to apprentices and sponsors on processes and policies related to the apprenticeship journey and challenger pathway.

Here's a Q&A with Isabel McLean, Apprenticeship Advisor for Mission and Abbotsford.


What is your trades background/experience? 

Welder.

How long have you been with ITA?

One month.

What do you enjoy most about working at ITA? 

Working with apprentices to get them certified. 

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Cheering on my boys at their sports activities. 

What would you like people to know about the trades?

It’s not just one thing. For example, you can go into so many different pathways for welding.

What advice would you give to people interested in becoming an apprentice? 

Pick something you enjoy and want to become better in.
